Homecoming 2009… Because Black & Gold Never Gets Old!
Homecoming is just a few days away (October 9-10), and campus is buzzing about the great week that Homecoming Executive Council has planned for everyone. As a Homecoming sponsor, the UI Alumni Association will present the Alumni Welcome Tent and Hungry Hawkeyes events. There’s A LOT going on, so make your plans now so you don’t miss out.

  1. Gather your friends and family to meet up for the parade on Friday night. Don’t forget to stop by the UIAA’s Alumni Welcome Tent by Phillips Hall to get free food and Hawkeye spirit items.
  2. Download music from “The Temptations” and “Augustana” so you’re ready to rock out at Friday Night’s FREE concert on the Pentacrest.
  3. Help support Homecoming’s philanthropic cause, Habitat for Humanity.
Best Guess Homecoming Contest
What will the scoreboard show when the Homecoming game between the Hawks and the Wolverines comes to a close? Look into your crystal ball and predict the final score for a chance to win a $50 gift certificate to the Hawk Shop. To participate in this S.T.A.T. contest, submit your best guess by October 9. GOOD LUCK!

Student Spotlight—Danielle Olerich
A senior from Odebolt, Iowa, Danielle Olerich is majoring in finance and marketing. She’s been the UIAA/S.T.A.T. marketing intern since March and has helped with orientation, Beat State Week, and is currently planning a food drive!

Where do you see yourself in five years? I could easily see myself working in Denver with a nonprofit organization, but really, I’m open to anything.

What is a random fact about you? I can pinch with my toes, REALLY well!

What is your favorite place in Iowa City? I have a spot down by the Iowa River (between Riverside and Gilbert) that I really enjoy. I fish there during the summer.

What is your greatest accomplishment? I potty trained my little cousin one summer—trust me, it was NOT easy!

What is your favorite S.T.A.T. memory? The 2009 President’s Block Party, which was a Welcome Week event that S.T.A.T. helped plan. Students swarmed the UI Alumni Association booth for cups and other goodies.
