What Does Your S.T.A.T. Membership Get You?
S.T.A.T ShirtAttend the S.T.A.T. informational meeting to learn about the awesome benefits and exclusive events for Students Today, Alumni Tomorrow members. Before the semester gets too busy, take the opportunity to ask questions and meet new people. Membership materials, including the local business discount card, will be available.

NOTE: Those who attend this meeting will be the first on campus to get their BEAT STATE T-SHIRT! It’s not too early to get revved up for the Iowa vs. Iowa State football game on September 12!

FREE Subs—September 9
Current S.T.A.T. members and students interested in joining S.T.A.T. are invited to Hubbard Park on September 9, 11 a.m.-2 p.m., to enjoy a free lunch. Come meet S.T.A.T. Ambassadors and UIAA staff, socialize with fellow students, and pick up your membership materials if you haven’t already done so.


Build Traditions, Embrace the Future: Become a S.T.A.T. Ambassador
S.T.A.T. Ambassadors are leaders who help current students develop a lifelong relationship with the University of Iowa and connect with prominent alumni. To apply to become an Ambassador, complete the form at www.iowalum.com/saa before September 14 and/or attend an informational meeting at the Pappajohn Business Building, September 2, 8:30 p.m.

UI Afro-American Cultural Center Celebration: September 18-20, 2009
This month, the Afro-American Cultural Center (Afro House) will celebrate 41 years of supporting students on campus—and we want you to help celebrate the birthday bash! We hope you’ll join us to recognize our history, renew relationships, empower the next generation of Afro-American students on campus, and help address issues concerning the UI black community.
 
The schedule of events includes networking with alumni, pre-game tailgate (Iowa vs. Arizona), “Old Skool versus New Skool” party, and a gospel breakfast.
 
Students receive free or discounted entry to all events, and you can charge it to your U-Bill. RSVP today!


Hungry Hawkeyes
Wednesday, October 7, 6-8 p.m.
Black Box Theater, IMU
 
Meet and learn from dynamic and successful alumni with diverse backgrounds and experiences by attending Hungry Hawkeyes. This FREE DINNER gives you the chance to expand your network for one meal and several discussions. You’ll receive an official e-vite and be able to register at www.iowalum.com/hungryhawkeyes/ on September 18. Space is limited, and those who register early will have first choice of their alumni host.


Volunteer at the UIAA Alumni Welcome Tent—Friday, October 9
Interested in face-painting, making cotton candy, or helping pass out popcorn to our UI alumni family before the Homecoming Parade kicks off? S.T.A.T. member volunteers are needed at the UIAA Alumni Welcome Tent on Friday, October 9, in the Phillips Hall Courtyard (Iowa Avenue and Clinton Street). Volunteers will receive a free Homecoming T-shirt for helping out. Bring a friend along to join the fun!

Shifts are 3-5 p.m., 4-6 p.m., and 6-8 p.m. Sign up for a two-hour shift by e-mailing alumni-reunions@uiowa.edu or call Christina at 319/335-2311. Please indicate shift preference and T-shirt size, and we'll follow up with more details closer to the event.
