Job Description

The University of Iowa Alumni Association (UIAA) is seeking a Web Editor. This position has primary responsibility for content creation for a worldwide online audience in order to cultivate, maintain, and strengthen alumni ties to the University. This includes content development for web and social media sites that enrich and enhance UIAA services to alumni with an emphasis on attracting and engaging younger alumni and student members. This is a part time position, with benefits, and the potential for full-time should work flow increase.

Education/Experience

A BA degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Typically, a minimum of two years of relevant work experience (preferably 3 to 5 years) is required that includes the following: work with social media and web technologies; superior writing and editing skills for interactive media; demonstrated experience in online social media skills; knowledge and understanding of interactive media, tools, and technologies; experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint); excellent communication and strong organizational skills; high attention to detail and follow-up; and the ability to effectively prioritize and organize projects to meet multiple deadlines. Familiarity with the university environment, experience with conducting viral marketing campaigns, and knowledge of HTML and web site management tools such as Adobe Creative Suite are desired.
