UI Legislative Advocacy Network
Legislative Advocacy
The University of Iowa’s Legislative Advocacy Network is an initiative of the Alumni Association and the University’s Office of Governmental Relations to encourage, support and coordinate alumni activities on behalf of higher education in the state of Iowa. UI advocates are alumni or friends of the University who support the goals of higher education in Iowa and are willing to communicate that support to their representatives in the state government.
What does an Advocate Do?
Advocates may be called upon to contact specific legislators or the Governor concerning issues that affect the university and higher education. Other opportunities to participate may be as simple as thanking your legislator for something he or she may have done for your community. Since the program is voluntary, you can be as involved as you wish. We value every level of effort!
The Role of the Alumni Association and the Office of Governmental Relations
The Alumni Association and Office of Governmental Relations recruit
educate and mobilize members of the network to deliver the University’s
key concerns and messages to the General Assembly. We welcome the participation
by University of Iowa alumni, supporters, parents, friends and those
who are concerned about higher education in Iowa.
Network members will receive background and educational mailings, newsletters
and periodic action alerts.
