University of Iowa - Visiting the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art and Kansas City Zoo

A full day of activities are planned for alumni and friends of the University of Iowa at the Kansas City Zoo and Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art:

  • 10 a.m.-noon, Kansas City Zoo: Stop by the UI booth in the zoo's main promenade to pick up some Iowa giveaways. Wear your Hawkeye gear and join us for a day of fun at the zoo—Iowa style.
  • 3:30-3:50 p.m, Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art auditorium, lobby level: Guests will hear from UI Museum of Art Interim Director Jim Leach about Mural, the UI's prized piece by Jackson Pollock on display at The Nelson-Atkins Museum, as well as the plans for a new University of Iowa Museum of Art.
  • 3:50-5:30 p.m., Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art: Guests may tour the museum at no charge until 5 p.m. and join us for a reception and refreshments in the Lens 2 room on the second floor.
  • 5:30-6:00 p.m., Atkins Auditorium, lobby level: Special guest Danan Hughes, former Hawkeye and Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver, will join in a panel discussion.
