Lifelong LearningThe War on Terror: Civil Liberties vs. National Security The nature of the war on terrorism, with a shadowy and elusive enemy, presents a controversial confrontation between security and civil rights. With concern over another event on the scale of 9/11, the temptation exists to choose security. What limits, if any, should government officials have in their pursuit of suspected terrorists - especially within the United States? Tung Yin's presentation will explore the legal and ethical issues at play in a number of federal criminal prosecutions involving so-called Al Qaeda "sleeper cells." Presented by Tung Yin, J.D. An associate professor in the UI College of Law, Yin joined the university faculty in 2002. He teaches courses on corporate crime, national security, and constitutional law. Registration: Sponsored by the UI College of Law and UI Alumni Association
