FTP Tutorial
Thanks for being an Iowa Club Webmaster. This information will help
you get started using FTP to upload and download your pages to the
UIAA server.
You may use any FTP software you like. But if you need software, FileZilla
is one we recommend because it is a fast FTP client for Windows with
a lot of features and it is free.
To get the program and start transferring files
FileZilla Download http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=21558
1. Choose the version you want to download. The most recent version
is a good choice.
2. Select the setup.exe file.
3. You will be asked to choose a mirror location to download from;
pick one and select “Download.” (You may need to try multiple
mirror locations before you find one that is running.)
4. You will be prompted to select to “save to disk” or
“open.” Saving the file to disk is a good idea; remember
where your computer is putting the file.
5. After the download is complete, open the file on your computer.
Click on the file.
6.
You will be prompted to go through a series of set-up questions.
The default selections work fine for most users.
7. The Setup Wizard will let you know when setup is complete. Close
the window for the wizard.
8. Open the program from your desktop. You are ready to move files
back and forth from your computer to the UIAA server. That's what FTP
is all about.
