Website Guidelines
The University of Iowa Alumni Association is delighted
to be able to offer Iowa Clubs the opportunity to host their web pages,
free of charge, on the UIAA web site. Here's how Iowa
Clubs can use this service.
Club Page Template
The UIAA has designed a template for club pages. This template
was designed to be easy to use and flexible enough to meet the clubs'
needs, while still ensuring that the basic style is consistent with
the rest of the UIAA's website.
We have divided the basic club site into five sections—the
club homepage, the upcoming events page, contact page, gamewatch page, and and Iowa links page—which should meet most club needs.
Club Folders
Each Iowa Club has its own password-protected folder on the UIAA server.
These consist of
An
images folder, in which we have placed a number of useful
UI-related images to help with your template.
Basic
pages—These are the "content" pages that you will download
to your computer so that you can add information and photos specific
to your club. Simply put, we give you a template that you personalize.
After you've written the text for your website—a welcome message
to people in your area, a list of club leaders and how to contact
them, for starters—and selected and sized photos or other graphic
elements, you will upload your page to the UI Alumni Association server.
Your website is then "live" and available for people to
visit.
Support from the UIAA
UIAA staff are happy to help with questions about site design or the
procedures to upload or transfer (FTP stands for "file transfer
protocol") your pages to the server. We can also help design a
page header that incorporates a club logo, if you have one, and design
and set up forms if you would like to include any on your pages.
Please
note that you or a member of your Iowa Club are responsible for
updating copy on your pages, posting images, and generally keeping
your information current. In managing your website, feel free
to use
any images or information from the main UIAA website on your own pages.
