    • Incoming UI freshmen from the Des Moines area are anxiously packing their bags and gearing up for their big move to Iowa City, and we want you to help us welcome and celebrate their entrance into the Hawkeye Family. The Des Moines IOWA Club invites you to their Summer Ice Cream Social and Student Send-Off.

    • When: Wednesday, July 22, 2009; 6–7:30 p.m.
    • Where: Fair Meadows Park shelter, West Des Moines,
    • Who: Des Moines incoming freshmen, their family, area UI alumni and friends, and current UI students
    • No cost!

    • Join the incoming Hawkeyes, their families, and UI alumni and friends for ice cream and refreshments in a relaxed atmosphere. UI Office of Admissions representatives and current students will be on hand to answer questions about UI life, and we’d like YOU there to share your UI experience with the new faces that will arrive to Iowa City in August. State Fair Volunteers Needed

University Relations is looking for volunteers to staff the University of Iowa booth at the Iowa State Fair August 13-23. Volunteers will answer questions from fairgoers, distribute Hawkeye football posters, and apply temporary tattoos. Students are needed to work 4-hour shifts anytime during  the 11-day period. The shifts are from 9-1 pm, 1-5 pm, and 5-9 pm in the Varied Industries Building. Fair admission and parking passes will be provided, along with a Hawkeye shirt.
