What will volunteers do?
Promote the University of Iowa, of course! The club will coordinate and host events that bring fellow Hawkeyes together to support the mission of the IOWA Clubs.

The Des Moines IOWA Club is in need of a few good recruits. The following positions need YOUR help:

Assistant Club Leader

Technology Coordinator

  • Are you savvy with Facebook and LinkedIn? Put your social networking skills to good use for your IOWA Club
  • Maintain your UIAA membership
  • Create a group for alumni in your area (i.e. University of Iowa Alumni of Des Moines)
  • Recruit members for your group
  • Post messages/send invitations when applicable
  • Time commitment: 1 hour per month

Networking Event Coordinator

Student Recruitment and Scholarship Coordinator

Social Activities Coordinator

Community Involvement Coordinator


Expectations for ALL club volunteers

    • Work with your club leader to maintain an active schedule of events, but realize that over-programming will lead to volunteer burn-out
    • After each event, let your club leader know how many people attended

How much time will it take?

    • You can decide! IOWA Club volunteers will be matched with involvement opportunities that relate to their interests, abilities, and time availability.

How can I get involved?

  1. Attend a club event
  2. Volunteer in a club leadership position
  3. Update your contact information with the UIAA so you’ll receive event notifications
What kind of support will the UIAA provide to club volunteers?
    • The UIAA will promote your events through e-mails, mailings, and regular website updates, as well as help you organize events, recruit volunteers, and run efficient meetings.
