Dance Marathon, the Marathon
After a successful first year, the second Dance Marathon the Marathon (DMM) is now in full swing. While more than 225 students, alumni, faculty, and community members are planning to run the Chicago Marathon with DMM on October 11, 2009, many runners got a jump start on their training in April with the new “Early Bird” program. This program was designed to help first-time runners get ready for the 18-week training program that begins in early June.
In addition to training for the marathon, each DMM runner is in the process of raising $750 to support UI Dance Marathon. This money also qualifies each runner to become a dancer for the 2010 Dance Marathon Big Event February 5-6. DMM organizers hope to bring in $125,000 to surpass the $85,000 raised by DMM in the first year. DMAG Fundraiser at Cedar Rapids Kernels Baseball Game
Where: Randy Kuehl Honfidence Pavilion (in Veterans Memorial Stadium), Cedar Rapids, IA
When: Friday, August 14, 2009
5:30 p.m.: Dinner and drinks begin (end at close of 7th inning)
6:30 p.m.: Game begins
Come enjoy a night of baseball with fellow Dance Marathon alumni and community members. DMAG is hosting a night with the Cedar Rapids Kernels as they take on the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. For $30, you'll get a game ticket (deck seating) and unlimited food and beverages, including hamburgers, hot dogs, brats, popcorn, peanuts, pop, and beer. All proceeds benefit DMAG, so sign up today! Tickets are limited; registration deadline is August 3.

Meet the Lauterbach Family…
The Lauterbach’s journey started on New Year’s day 2005 and they had no idea what they were in for. Connor, now 4 years old, awoke that morning screaming in pain that he couldn’t walk. Almost a month later, on January 26, 2005, in the emergency room in Iowa City they found out why.... Connor was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia at the age of 27 months. He started a chemotherapy treatment plan right away. They learned that his total treatment plan would take over three years to complete.
