Young Alumni Past Events

  • Tippie Alumni Event in Chicago (April 13, 2012) allowed over 60 graduates to socialize and meet new friends in an informal setting. The evening's special guest was Associate Dean Lon Moeller, and attendees enjoyed appetizers, giveaways, and door prizes. The event, held at Theory Sports Lounge in Chicago, was presented by the Tippie Young Alumni Board, the Tippie College of Business, and the UIAA.

  • Mascot Matchmaker, Des Moines (February 16, 2012) gave over 45 UI, ISU, and UNI alumni the opportunity to speed date and socialize. We hope participants found successful matches and enjoyed meeting people in the Des Moines area!

  • Second City's Laugh Out Loud Tour and UI Young Alumni Social (February 4, 2012) nearly 40 young alumni enjoyed an evening of hilarious sketch comedy. Alumni had the opportunity to meet and socialize with fellow alumni and the cast during a post-show social.

  • Iowa City Area UI Young Alumni Event (November 7, 2011) attracted nearly 40 UI alumni and friends to network and socialize at Red's Ale House, plus enjoy a trivia game about the state of Iowa, the University of Iowa, and famous UI graduates.

  • Minneapolis UI Alumni Event with the University of Minnesota (October 27, 2011) attracted more than 40 UI and UM alumni to network and share their career pursuits. The event also included a Floyd of Rosedale history trivia game, which was won by a team of four University of Iowa alumni and one University of Minnesota alumnus.

  • Kansas City UI Alumni Event with the University of Nebraska (June 16, 2011) had over 90 UI and UNL alumni networking at The Cashew. Participants also had the chance to win several great University of Iowa door prizes.

  • Beat Cancer 5K was a great success on September 12, 2010. UI students, alumni, and community members raised over $2,500 for the UI Dance Marathon.

  • Denver Hawk Social on June 26, 2010 rewarded those volunteers who worked all day on our Hawks Have Heart (see below) with delicious appetizers and drinks at Wynkoop Brewery in downtown Denver.  Participants also had the chance to win several great University of Iowa door prizes.

  • Hawks Have Heart took place in Denver, Colorado on June 26, 2010.  The UI Alumni Association is partnered with Brother’s Redevelopment, a Denver-based nonprofit organization that provides housing and other related services for local low-income, elderly, and disabled residents. Several UI alumni came out and painted a home for a Denver homeowner in need.

  • Mascot Matchmaker, Chicago on June 16, 2010 gave 30 Chicago area alumni the opportunity for speed dating and socializing with fellow UI alumni.

  • Mascot Matchmaker, Minneapolis was a huge success on June 2, 2010, yielding over 100 University of Minnesota and Iowa alumni. Participants had 2 minutes for each “date” and had time to socialize in between.

  • Mascot Matchmaker, Des Moines (February 4, 2010) and Cedar Rapids (April 28, 2010) had over 90 University of Iowa, Iowa State University, and University of Northern Iowa Alumni.  These two events were a great way for our three state institutions to set aside any intra-state rivalry and speed date.
