Family Weekend
FAQ's
 Q: How do I register for Family Weekend?
A: In early to mid-August, you will receive a Family Weekend brochure
in the mail. The brochure will contain a schedule of events and registration
form and fees. Simply fill out the form and return it by the deadline.
If you do not receive a brochure in the mail please contact The Office
of Student Life at 319/335-3059. All families planning to attend must
be pre-registered. Please visit www.imuis.uiowa.edu/osl/ for udates.
Q: Can I bring my student's younger siblings to Family Weekend?
A: When we say Family Weekend, we mean it. Family members of all ages
are welcome. While there are not specific events for younger siblings,
they are more than welcome to attend all our events, including the tailgate,
casino night, and breakfast. So, use your own judgment, there will be
crowds and a good deal of walking, but if they're up to it, please bring
them along!
Q: I need a hotel room for the weekend and they all seem to be booked.
What can I do?
A: If you plan to come to Iowa City for any football weekend, including
Family Weekend, your best bet is to plan ahead. Hotels in nearby
cities such as Cedar Rapids
and Amana (about a twenty minute drive) usually have more rooms available
then
hotels
located in Iowa City. Check out the Iowa
City/Coralville Convention Center and Visitors Bureau for hotel
listings. Finally, in order to accommodate families of first year
students
who do not have a chance to plan ahead, we have reserved blocks of
hotels for your convenience. In order to book these blocked rooms,
you will
need to visit the Office of Student Life at the Introduction
to Iowa fair on day 2 of your summer orientation.
