Hal, when did you graduate from the University of Iowa and what did you study while you were there? I studied pharmacy, finished with a BS and was registered as a pharmacist in 1955. Did you grow up in Iowa? Yes, my childhood thru high school was in Sigourney (Keokuk County) which is about 65 miles SW of Iowa City. What did you enjoy most during your time at Iowa? I enjoyed the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of activities and organizations. What was your favorite class while at Iowa? My favorite class was Administrative and Business Pharmacy taught by Dean Louis Zopf and Wendell Kerr. When did you move to Indianapolis and what kind of work do you do? After 3 years in the Air Force, we joined Eli Lilly and spent about l6 years overseas in their operating affiliates. We then moved to Indpls for about the last 5 years of my Lilly career. What do you enjoy most about Indianapolis? We enjoy the wide variety of cultural, sporting, public service and educational opportunities. I worked full-time for about 2 1/2 years as a loaned Lilly executive to the Pan American Games and on the opening of the new Indpls Zoo in l988. Tell us about your spouse and any children. My wife is Jeanne, a RN and homemaker. Our son David is an economist with the US Dept. of Agriculture in Washing- ton DC. Our daughter Nancy is on the teaching and clinic staff of Purdue University Veterinary Technology program in West Lafayatte. Have you been back to Iowa City recently? What changes have you seen in the city and university? We go back to Iowa City fairly often and were pleased to be there for the big Iowa win over Mich State. The biggest change we see is the tremendous growth in facilities and enrollment. The people and friendly atmosphere is one thing that has not changed. How can the Indianapolis Iowa Club benefit local alumni? By helping to organize a variety of activities from game watches to trips will help us get to know our fellow alums better and ultimately help build the University. Any other comments?
