Iowa Rewards Credit Card

How do I apply for the Iowa Rewards credit card?
Apply online or call 800/932-2775 (please mention priority code VABR67).*

What card designs are available?
You may choose from two attractive Iowa Rewards designs—a contemporary design that features the Tigerhawk logo and a classic design that features the Old Capitol building.

How do I redeem my points?
To redeem online for Iowa Rewards or WorldPoints® rewards, follow these four steps:

  1. Click on the Bank of America WorldPoints® site.
  2. Sign in (located on the left side) and click the Ultimate Access® button in the middle of the screen.
  3. On the next screen, click the red Ultimate Access® banner to the left.
  4. Lastly, view the site categories for your Iowa Rewards and click on the item to redeem.

Or, call 800-800-8853—you'll be asked to push"2" to speak with a representative.

Will I be contacted after I redeem my points for an Iowa Reward?
A UIAA staff member will contact you within ten business days after you redeem. If you don't hear from us, please call 800/469-2586 to verify that we received your request.

Where can I find more information about Iowa Rewards?
Current cardholders can view Iowa Rewards by signing in to the Bank of America WorldPoints® site. Follow the steps above under "How do I redeem my points?" to locate the Iowa Rewards.

What if I currently have a UI credit card?
If you already have a UI WorldPoints® credit card, you don't need to do anything. You already have access to Iowa Rewards and will receive a new Iowa Rewards card when your current card expires.

If you do not currently have a UI WorldPoints® card, you may call 800/932-2775 toll-free to apply for a new WorldPoints® account with Iowa Rewards. Please be sure to mention priority code VABR67.*

Why does the UIAA promote and offer a credit card?
The UIAA is largely a self-supporting organization with minimal support from the University of Iowa. This program enables the UIAA to direct more of its funds towards its core mission—to strengthen the university through alumni engagement. A credit card program helps the UIAA and hundreds of other alumni associations nationwide to continue to deliver the communications and services that alumni have come to depend on.

Why offer Iowa Rewards?
Consumers expect more from a credit card product, and most credit cards now include some type of rewards component. Iowa Rewards allows us to provide unique, exclusive merchandise and experiences that cater specifically to UI alumni and friends—in addition to the full catalog of rewards offered through Bank of America's WorldPoints® program.

Can I get the Iowa Rewards card at my local Bank of America® branch?
Yes. Please be sure to specify the University of Iowa credit card with WorldPoints® and Iowa Rewards. (Iowa State University offers a Bank of America product as well.)

How much money does the alumni association receive from this program?
Contractually, we are not able to release specific terms of the agreement, but the revenue generated from this program is significant. It also depends on you. Our revenue is tied to the number of cardholders actively using their card and to total retail spending.

What is the money from the program used for?
Revenue from the credit card program is used to help support the programs and services of the alumni association, including career enhancement opportunities, social networks, student leadership programs, Lifelong Learning events, IOWA Clubs, Iowa Alumni Magazine, student scholarships, and more.

Why offer Bank of America products?
In 2005-06, the UIAA conducted a proposal and review process, which determined that Bank of America provided the best opportunity for the UI credit card program to succeed while providing high quality products for our alumni and friends.
