Kansas City IOWA Club receives National I-Club Award
We are thrilled to announce that the Kansas City IOWA Club was recently awarded the National I-Club Special Commendation Award for Outstanding Growth and Achievement. This is one of two awards bestowed each year by the National I-Club and we are the first club outside the state of Iowa to receive a national award since 1996 when the the Kansas City IOWA Club last won it. Members of the Kansas City IOWA Club Board travelled to Iowa City for the Golden Harvest Banquet on July 31st to receive the reward. We were able to meet other I-Club leaders and had a chance to visit with Athletic Director Gary Barta and Coach Kirk Ferentz. We are hoping to be able to upload the award video to the website in the near future as we would like to share the moment and recognition with our entire membership, as this is a direct reflection of all the support you have given the club over the past few years and our club's growth and support of the University of Iowa. Thank you to all of our members for your continued support and congratulations on this great honor for the Kansas City IOWA club!
Second Annual KC Area UI Student Send Off
We held our 2nd Annual KC Area UI Student Send Off on August 5th at the Waldo Pizza Tap Room. The KC IOWA Club Board hosts the event and invites all current undergrads and their families to attend as we share in the excitement of the upcoming year. There are currently about 40 area students that attend the University of Iowa. We had 6 (5 freshmen) and their families join us for the evening. Everyone really enjoyed the event and the ability to share in our experiences and knowledge of the UI as well as a chance to meet other students from the area who will be attending. It has been a wonderful event that we have taken great pride in ebing able to provide this evening for the current students and their families and it again is all possible through your membership support of the club.
KC IOWA Club Gives Back
Thanks to everyone's support throughout the past year. Through your membership dues, t-shirt sales, and support of the Cy-Hawk Golf Tournament the Kansas City IOWA Club is able to continue with our stated goals of giving back to the University. The KC IOWA Club is sending the following donations to the University of Iowa.
$2500 to the National I-Club, supporting athletics
$1000 to the UI Alumni Association
$1000 to the UI Foundation - UI Impact Fund (to be used for the area of greatest need)
$2500 has been appropriated to a KC Area Scholarship Endowment Fund
We had also donated $1000 earlier this year, that was matched by the UIAA to provide two $1000 scholarships to local students.
That brings our annual donations to the UI to $8000 for the year. All due to your continued support of the KC IOWA Club. Thanks so much for helping to make a difference and continuing to build a stronger University of Iowa
