Join us for an afternoon of music, culture, and Hawkeye fellowship as the University of Iowa’s Latin Jazz Ensemble performs a free concert for the public. This event will feature faculty, staff, and student members of the UI School of Music. Directly following the performance, the UI Alumni Association will host a reception with the Jazz Ensemble and James Dreier, 00MA, UI associate professor of music, who will answer questions and discuss upcoming plans for the department—including the relocation of Hancher Auditorium.
The UI Latin Jazz Ensemble is one of the premier ensembles from the jazz department. Under the direction of James Dreier, the group performs and studies the vast Latin/jazz genre, including artists such as Tito Puente, Chucho Valdés, Eddie Palmieri, and Victor Mendoza.
This program is hosted in conjunction with UI Arts Share.
