Find Armadillo in Snow

drawing of an armadilloHunters near Mason City, Iowa, recently came upon strange tracks in the snow. Following the trail they finally came upon a queer looking animal which had frozen to death. Its head and legs were drawn under bony plates of armor and its body rolled into a shape somewhat like a ball. It was an armadillo. Glenn J. Konvalinka, B. E. '15, of Mason City, was instrumental in having the animal sent to Professor H. R. Dill, University taxidermist, for mounting.

How the armadillo found its way this far into the north is a mystery, since its native home is South America and Mexico. The supposition is that it escaped from some circus.
