Live Java Blend

A delectable collection of songs by local musicians, Live Java Blend brings the best of Iowa’s musical talent together for a worthy cause.

The new CD features original songs by 20 area artists recorded on WSUI’s “Talk of Iowa Live from the Java House,” a popular Friday morning public radio program that showcases live music alongside conversation about culture and community. All proceeds from the $15 CDs benefit the UI’s public radio stations, KSUI and WSUI.

From blues to jazz to folk-rock, the CD boasts an impressive diversity that appeals to all sorts of musical tastes. This reviewer hit the replay button several times for “River” by the Nadas, Jen Gloeckner’s “Remember When,” John Gorka’s “Dogs and Lightening,” and “River’s Blues” by Mike and Amy Finders.

For this acoustic album, “Talk of Iowa” host and CD producer Ben Kieffer, 86BA, handpicked his favorite songs from those performed within the last year. “It’s a great collection not only to have for your own, but also to give to others,” says Kieffer, who pays special thanks to the artists who donated their music. “Think of the people in your life who might not know the awesome variety of songwriting talent found right here in Iowa.”
