Quinn Early snares one of his 19 catches for the year. Despite not playing until the Hawks' seventh game due to an injury, Early still made his mark. He set an Iowa record with a 93-yard touchdown reception against Northwestern.

January 1
With a 10-1 record, Iowa was sole owner of the conference championship and at the Rose Bowl again. Though the Hawkeyes scored first, Ronnie Harmon fumbles and the speed of the UCLA Bruins brought about the downfall of Iowa, 45-28.

September 13
With Iowa’s 43-7 victory over Iowa State, Fry became the Hawkeyes’ all-time winningest football coach.

November 22
After trailing 17-0 at the half, the Hawkeyes made a spectacular comeback to beat Minnesota, 30-27. Listen to Jim Zabel give you the highlights of this remarkable game.

December 30
On their first trip to the Holiday Bowl, the Hawkeyes squeaked out a last-second victory on a Houghtlin field goal to beat the San Diego Aztecs, 39-38.
