Iowa vs. Michigan State 2000October 7
In the words of Kirk Ferentz, the game was a “Mona Lisa.” While he admitted that not every play was pretty, the coach said his team’s 21-16 upset over Michigan State on Homecoming Weekend was enough of a masterpiece to make the second-year coach break into a broad smile at his postgame press conference. More than 63,000 faithful sat under ominous gray skies to watch the excitement of victory unfold. The win broke a school-record 13-game skid and the second-longest losing streak in the country at the time.

The Hawks ended the season with three wins and eight losses.
