Prayers and Crossed Fingers *new*
Ever notice how the teacher makes the course sound so exciting
and easy on the first day of class? And then, the day after the last
drop-date, the course gets harder? (read

Worlds Apart
It’s nice to be back in Iowa after a wonderful summer
in Ghana with family. When we returned to the U.S., I realized how
out of
touch I’d been with the world. (read

June entry
Well, we arrived safely home in Ghana—after
an epic 30-hour journey via Rome and Nigeria.

Under African Skies
The best part of this school
year is the end of it—no more
classes or deadlines for papers and projects. But, the greatest
part about this summer is my trip home to visit family in Ghana.

Big Plans
The University of Iowa is my stepping-stone to the future. After
graduation, I want to get into the College of Dentistry, probably
to study periodontics, but my long-term goal is to build a clinic
in Ghana, my parents’ homeland. (read

Model Behavior
Fuseina and I discovered a cool store in the Sycamore Mall called
The Fashion Bug Plus. While there one day, I saw a large poster advertising
a Spring Fashion Show and calling for models. My eyes lit up. (read

The Price You Pay
With the start of the semester

a.m. biology lab, because I was hoping we wouldn’t have a lab. (read more)
A Little Respect
Last week, Mommy and Daddy sent
us $100 each because “We just
miss you girls so much.” So, Fuseina and I decided to do
something fun together. (read more)
Double Take
This semester, for the first time, Fuseina and I are not taking any
classes together. After our first semester, when we took only one
class (pre-calculus) together, we decided that it would be easier
just to be in the same classes. (read more)
Adjusting to Iowa
It is so cold in Iowa! Why don’t the pretty pamphlets that
the university sends out ever show a picture of a group of students
huddled like penguins in the cold? (read more)
Doing Nothing
The best thing about winter break is the ability and freedom to do
nothing, absolutely nothing—which is exactly what Fuseina and
I did. Sure, Fuseina had a job over break (I didn’t), but we
didn’t have to go to the library, we didn’t have to crack
open a book, and even though I had vowed to start studying for my
DATs, I didn’t. (read more)
Back to Class
But, of course, the break was rudely interrupted by the
start of the spring semester. I’ve signed up for three classes:
Badminton I, Relaxation Techniques, and Principles of Biology II
for a total
of six credit hours. (read more)
