February 2004Asana Mohamad • Back to Class But, of course, the break was rudely interrupted by the start of the spring semester. I’ve signed up for three classes: Badminton I, Relaxation Techniques, and Principles of Biology II for a total of six credit hours. The first two classes are only eight weeks long, so they should be over with quickly. From the first sessions we had on Wednesday, they should also be easy. Biology looks OK, too, and I think lab will be good. Coincidentally, I have the same TA that Fuseina had last year. She shrieked, "Really! That’s great!” when I told her I’d gotten Mark also. In other news, I’ve gotten two tutoring assignments so far. I’ll be tutoring two people for an hour each every week. I’m really glad that I decided to be a tutor, as I love helping people understand what’s going on in class. I know what it’s like being totally lost, even though you try your hardest to follow what’s going on. I try not only to help my tutees understand the course work, but also to develop a thought process that will get them through the various steps and to the final answers. After last semester’s positive experiences, I decided to continue tutoring Pre-Calculus and Calculus I. However, a few days ago I received an e-mail from my supervisor asking if I would like to tutor Calculus II because one of my tutees from last semester specifically requested me. That made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside! So now I’m tutoring Calculus II as well. It’s going to be a blast, especially since I think I’ve grown and learned a lot from last semester’s experiences. |
