James Ehrmann • Kick Ball and Racism

I stayed in tonight, which was probably somewhat of a disappointment by most students’ standards, but a necessity for my lifestyle. I am now ahead on reading in my "American Politics” and “Evolution and the History of Life” lectures, and that’s key because I’ve got a philanthropic event to plan for Sigma Nu. We’re going to play kick ball, with funds raised going to help fight testicular cancer. We prefer to refer to the event as "kicking cancer in the balls." So, I’ve got calls to make, donations to seek out, and a group of men to organize.

While I was eating lunch in Hillcrest today, I noticed something odd. February is Black History Month, but that was not the oddity that consumed me. Rather, it was odd that the university was sponsoring a Black History Month dinner, complete with all the fixings that would traditionally be consumed by African-Americans. What? So African-Americans eat in a different way than I do? This discriminatory bit of humor intrigued me for some time, until I realized ketchup from my hamburger was inevitably spilling onto my white shirt. In conclusion, the joke was on me. Not to worry though, Mom, I put Oxy-Clean stain remover on right away!
