What is OnIowa.com?
OnIowa.com is a free and secure service to University of Iowa alumni. OnIowa.com features include:
- A secure Alumni Directory to help you find friends and classmates or update your own information.
- A personal Hawk Page to display your news, keep track of your contacts, and stay up-to-date with your friends’ postings.
- Hawkeye Notes that help you catch up with old friends and share news about your family, career, and interests.
- An Alumni Events Calendar that lets you search and register for alumni events in your area, see who else is attending, and invite friends to join you.
- An E-mail Forwarding Service that offers a free, personalized University of Iowa alumni e-mail address.
How do I register for OnIowa.com?
Registration is easy and can be completed in four steps! Simply visit www.OnIowa.com and click “register now!”
Step 1: Find your record using the search form. You may search by last name, first name, and class year, but only last name is required.
Step 2: Select your record from the displayed list. If you are unable to locate your name, you may submit an online request form or contact the UI Alumni Association toll-free at 800/469-2586 for assistance.
Step 3: Verify that the record is yours by providing security information. If you are unable to verify your record or do not know your security information, you may submit an online request form or contact the UI Alumni Association toll-free at 800/469-2586 for assistance.
Step 4: Create your user ID and password.
After registering, you will need to enter your user ID and password to access exclusive community features.
What should I do if I cannot find my name?
If you are not able to find your name during the registration process, try searching by last name only. If you still do not see your name, click here to submit an online request form or contact the UI Alumni Association toll-free at 800/469-2586 for assistance.
How do I know what security information to enter during registration?
Security information instructions are listed below according to the year of your first UI degree.
- 1969 or prior: Click here to request your security information
- 1970-2005: Enter the last four digits of your SSN
- 2006 or after: Enter the last four digits of your university ID
If your security information is not accepted or if you do not know your security information, you will need to submit an online request form or contact the UI Alumni Association toll-free at 800/469-2586.
How do I update my alumni directory listing?
- After you have registered for the online community, choose “My Hawk Page” from the navigation menu on the left.
- On “My Hawk Page,” select “Edit my personal profile.”
- Choose the “Click to Update” button beside the section you would like to update.
How do I hide or display my directory information?
You control your personal information that’s displayed in the directory. Once registered, you can choose to hide portions or all of your information. You may also call the UI Alumni Association at 800/469-2586 to have your listing removed from the directory.
Hide portions of your information:
- Choose “My Hawk Page” from the navigation menu.
- Select “Edit my personal profile.”
- Select “Hide/unhide information from view in your profile.”
- Check the “Hide” box which corresponds to the information you would like to hide.
- You must click “Update” for your changes to take effect.
- To view your public profile, select “View your profile as others would see it.”
Hide your directory listing:
- Choose “My Hawk Page” from the navigation menu.
- Select “Edit my personal profile.”
- Select “Hide/unhide information from view in your profile.”
- Check the “Hide” box next to Online Directory Consent. Your listing will not be available for viewing and your name will not appear in any directory search results.
- You must click “Update” for your changes to take effect.
- To verify that your listing is hidden, select “View your profile as others would see it.”
How do I update my UI degree information?
To update or correct your degree information, you will need to contact the UI Alumni Association toll-free at 800/469-2586.
What is email forwarding?
Email forwarding is a free service offered to all alumni who have registered for OnIowa.com. Email sent to your alumni email address will automatically be forwarded to the email address of your choice. Please note: This service does not include Internet access. An existing email account is required in order to activate email forwarding.
How do I set up email forwarding?
Once registered for Onlowa.com, you can establish a free, personalized University of Iowa alumni email address, eliminating the need to update your friends and family each time you change jobs or Internet service providers. To get started, choose email forwarding from the navigation menu located on the left hand side of the page or click here. You will need to select your mail name (e.g., yourname@alumni.uiowa.edu ). Choose your mail name carefully as it cannot be changed once activated. Please note: Vulgar, inappropriate, or misleading mail names will not be allowed. In order to start using your new alumni email address, you will need to supply an email address that will receive emails addressed to your alumni email address (e.g., yourname@aol.com).
How do I change the email address that my alumni email forwards to?
After creating your alumni email address, choose email forwarding from the navigation menu located on the left hand side of the page or click here to change your settings.
