RELAY FOR LIFE 2007!

The 'Hawkeyes in Paradise' team did a FANTASTIC job at the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life 2007, selling 50 pizzas in four hours to help raise over $3,000 to help in the fight against cancer.  A HUGE thanks go out to Ben and Mary Klaus, who deliverd ALL 50 pizzas in two shifts.  Also thanks to our corporate Sponsor- Ron Dao's Pizza.  WIthout them, the sucess of the evening would not have been possible.

UIAA Wins 2006 Pride of CASE Awards
The University of Iowa Alumni Association has won several awards from the regional chapter of the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE).   Iowa Clubs won three separate awards.  Iowa was the only school to win in the best practices in Alumni Relations category with Paradise Iowa Club taking Silver for the  Troop Care Package Project, and the Memphis Iowa Club taking Gold for their Hawkeye Style cookbook.  The Troop Care Package Project Also won Gold for best volunteer engagement.  CONGRATULATIONS UIAA!

Earlier this year, the
Paradise Club's “Iowa Troop Care Packages” was awarded a gold medal from the international arm of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) in its 2006 Circle of Excellence competition.  This project was submitted for consideration by the UI Alumni Association’s Susan Griffith.  According to the May 11 letter announcing this award, 111 entries were judged in the “Alumni Relations Programs” category and one grand gold medal, five gold medals, five silver medals, and two bronze medals were awarded.  This marks the third Circle of Excellence awards for Iowa Club projects in the past five years.

 BIG BROTHERS/BIG SISTERS VOLUNTEER DAY

On Saturday, July 30th, a small but sturdy group of Paradise club members donated time, muscle and sweat to the SW Florida Big Brothers and Big sisters program. A lot of landscaping got done before the beer and pizza arrived!

FT. MYERS RELAY FOR LIFE
2005 NEW TEAM OF THE YEAR WINNER!

The Hawkeyes that showed up at the Lee County Sports Complex had a great time at the Ft. Myers Relay for Life Event. From 6pm April 21st to 10am April 22nd, there was a Hawkeye walking the track to help in the fight against cancer. With money raised on site and from the raffles held during game-watches, the Paradise Iowa Club was able to donate over $800 towards the fight against cancer!
