Privacy Policy
The University of Iowa Alumni Association (UIAA) respects
your right to privacy, while also giving you the right to share information
with the organization or with other visitors to iowalum.com if you desire.
E-Mail Directory
For instance, hundreds of University of Iowa alumni have elected to
post their names, graduation years, and e-mail addresses on our e-mail
directory so that friends and associates can contact them electronically.
This is totally voluntary. If anyone who has elected to share such information
decides later that it should be removed, we will, of course, do so.
If you are listed in the directory and prefer that your information
be deleted, please e-mail webmaster@uiowa.edu.
On the other hand, if you would like to include such contact information
on the iowalum.com website, fill out the secure form at https://www.iowalum.com/emaildir/form.html.
Forms
Dozens of forms throughout our website make it easy for alumni and friends
to request information, update their records, register for events, and
share memories. To secure any information that you provide via these
forms, we have protected our website with a Secure Site Pro Certificate
from Verisign. We use the best encryption technology available to protect
your credit card information if you chose to provide it to us.
Contests and Surveys
Information that you supply the UIAA via our website is used in various
ways. We often survey alumni to learn more about our online visitors.
The responses and comments we receive in aggregate help us improve the
content and services we provide. Occasionally, too, we sponsor quizzes
that require you to share personal information if you’d like to
be eligible to win a prize. Deciding whether or not to participate is
entirely up to you.
General Browsing Information
We run WebTrends software on iowalum.com to track site usage. If you
visit our site, we may collect and store your computer’s IP address,
browser type, and operating system; the date and time you access the
site; the URL of the website from which you linked to iowalum.com; and
the various pages you visited.
We track these things in aggregate to help us understand what features
of the site are most appealing to visitors. This information helps us
improve the website for the people who visit it most often.
E-Mail
If you fill out our e-mail preferences form http://www.iowalum.com/emailPref/
to subscribe to any of our free newsletters or to request information
about athletic travel opportunities http://www.iowalum.com/athletictours/,
we will record your e-mail address as part of your alumni record. Occasionally,
the UI Alumni Association or another entity at the University of Iowa
may use your e-mail address to send you news or other information. If
you do not want to receive this material, we pledge to make it easy
for you to immediately unsubscribe yourself from any electronic communication.
