Putting on the Ritz

submitted by Jean Vitosh

Ingredients

Base
1 pkg. (8 ounce) chopped dates (unsweetened)
1 can Eagle Brand milk (sweetened - condensed)
4 Tbsp. oleo
1 cup chopped pecans
65 Ritz crackers

Frosting
3 ounces cream cheese
4 Tbsp. oleo
2 cup powdered sugar
1 tsp. vanilla flavoring
1/2 tsp. almond flavoring

Directions

1 - Cook dates, oleo, and milk slowly until mixture thickens.
2 - Stir in nuts.
3 - Arrange crackers on cookie sheet.
4 - Spoon about 1/2 Tbsp. of date mixture onto each cracker.
5 - Bake in oven preheated to 300 degrees for five minutes.
6 - Cool and frost.

These tasty treats can be frozen.

Note: I got this recipe at a graduation party. Originating with the grandmother of the honored graduate, the popular recipe had been passed down through the family.
