Pick up your registration packet, sign up for reunion van service, view memorabilia provided by University Archives, enjoy refreshments, and relax in the hospitality room provided by the UIAA.

FRIDAY, APRIL 17:

9 a.m.-5 p.m.

Campus Walking Tour (Free)
(repeated in afternoon)

Student ambassadors from the Office of Admissions will lead a leisurely walk through campus that includes new buildings and old favorites.

9:30-10:30 a.m.  
Adler Journalism Building Tour (Free)

Named after Phillip D. Adler, publisher of the Quad City Times (of Davenport) and lifelong supporter of the UI, the Adler Building sits just north of the Main Library and houses the School of Journalism and Mass Communications. Opened in 2005, this state-of-the-art building is also home to the Daily Iowan facilities.

The campus and Iowa City have undergone many changes since you graduated, and you’ll want to see the new construction, as well as renovations to old favorites. This tour takes in all the highlights from the comfort of an air-conditioned bus, just like current students use to journey across campus.

Alumni College “Post-Modern Fiction” Course (Free)
105 English Philosophy Building

With changes in technology and teaching style, Iowa classrooms are much different than they were 50 years ago. Sit in on this course taught by UI English professor Brooks Landon to experience what student life is like today.

11 a.m.-1 p.m.  
Come and Go Lunch in Burge Hall’s Market Place ($8)

Burge Hall Market Place is a newly renovated dining hall used by faculty, staff, and students. Enjoy lunch with a wide variety of dining options and a scenic view of campus.

Alumni College “Physics of Everyday Experience” Course (Free)
LR1 Van Allen Hall

Old Capitol Tour (Free)

A campus and state landmark, Old Capitol has stood as the university’s signature architectural jewel for more than 150 years. Renovated after a devastating fire in 2001, Old Cap is still in use as a museum and learning center. Tour the restored building, view the new gold dome, and experience this timeless piece of Iowa history.

Tour of College of Education Curriculum Lab and Iowa Center for Assistive Technology & Education Research (Free)

ICATER lab is located in the College of Education, maintains a number of assistive technology devices within the lab setting. This assistive technology lab offers an environment for application, research, and training to University of Iowa College of Education students and faculty.

UI President Sally Mason’s Home, 102 Church Street
 
In celebration of their 50th anniversary, 1959 graduates and their guests are invited to a private reception at the UI President’s residence. Join host Sally Mason, 20th president of the University of Iowa, and your classmates at this special event.

5:30-8 p.m.
All-Class Social, Banquet, and 50-year Circle of Gold Induction Ceremony ($40)
Brechler Press Box, Kinnick Stadium - enter thru gate D

Join fellow graduates and friends for an evening of festivities at the newly renovated Brechler Press Box in Kinnick Stadium. Enjoy a social and refreshments at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 6 p.m. and then the Circle of Gold ceremony, where Class of 1959 alumni will receive a commemorative pin that symbolizes their enduring relationship with the university.
