An Overview of Common Legal Topics

This class offers a basic overview of a variety of interesting legal topics, many of which we encounter over the course of our lives. Examples of legal issues to be covered are: property ownership, the husband and wife relationship, taxation, real estate, employment, divorce, estates, business entities, trusts, eminent domain, free speech, landlord and tenant relationships, torts, and privacy.

INSTRUCTOR: Bruce Haupert recently retired after more than 40 years as a partner in a prominent Iowa City law firm. A University of Iowa engineering and law graduate, he practiced general law and has also served as the president or member of the boards of directors of more than a dozen Iowa City civic organizations.
