Papa
John's (3.9)
 |
Papa John’s pizza
sauce has a kind of sweetness to it,
so their pizza doesn’t rank terribly high on my list.
That being said, Papa John’s pizza has one of my
all-time favorite crusts. It’s doughy-licious and
good old Papa John must know it because each pizza comes
equipped with garlic sauce and pizza sauce to dip those
breadsticks in. Also, Papa John’s website has
a lot of great specials . -

Overall, the company's saying "better
ingredients, better pizza" was a definite here! Living
in IC is great because there are always coupons which made
this slightly more expensive pizza all the greater! The
delivery was there in 22 minutes! - Dennette |
 |
Papa
John's tastes consistently good, so while it wasn't the
cheapest pizza it also wasn’t a waste
of money. As far as the menu goes, Papa John’s is
fairly limited, but when ordering pizza I’m not usually
looking for much beyond pizza, so I’m not complaining.
Probably Papa Johns’s biggest draw is their garlic sauce. I couldn’t help but
ask for some extra, even though it cost an additional dollar.

Papa John's was very efficient and
very friendly with me on the phone. I actually live right
across the street from Papa John's so I just ate in. Their
pizza was okay, but their cheese sticks were amazing, highly
recommended! - Ashley |
 |
Their service was great. They
mentioned their daily special when they answered the phone
which I really liked. It took a little longer to
deliver the food but it was worth the extra time. I
like the garlic dipping sauce they throw in with the order. Their
breadsticks were nothing special - simply sticks of bread
dough with no seasoning - but they did come with 3 types
of dipping sauces which I liked. Overall pizza tasted great
and was not too greasy! - Tyler |
The
Wedge Pizzeria (4)
 |
The
Wedge is what I consider the best delivery pizza in Iowa City.
Eating Wedge pizza makes you feel like you’re eating real
food, not just something greasy and bad for you. Their menu is
pretty extensive and the pricing is very reasonable
for the quality. If I had to pick one pizza place to recommend
out of all the venues, this would easily be it. - Lindsay |
 |
The
Wedge makes what it calls “gourmet pizza.” This means
they can put everything from artichoke hearts to meatballs on
their pizza, not to mention something called “rice cheese,” which
doesn’t really sound all that appetizing to me. But what
does this mean for the average pizza consumer with a less exotic
palate? Their pizza is pretty darn delicious, albeit a tad pricey.
However, I believe The Wedge had the least waiting time of all
the pizzerias on this list. - Ju Li |
 |
Overall,
their pizza was amazing! I highly recommend it, especially if
you're looking to get a unique pizza filled with different vegetables
and sauces!- Dennette |
 |
Very
fast delivery time! They have an extensive menu selection which
I liked. From lasagna to calzones, they had it all! With such
a large menu I would have liked to have seen more than one style
of pizza crust. I did have to wait on the phone several minutes,
but the speedy delivery made up for it. Pizza was cooked just
right, but the sausage was a little spicy! - Tyler |
Pizza
Pit (3.6)
 |
The Pit’s menu
was very extensive like the Wedge’s but once again,
only one style of pizza crust! Food was a little greasy
and the delivery time was average. Crust was fairly flat
and thin but it was still good! - Tyler |
 |
The
Pizza Pit scored highest and impressed me most
of all. They
have a varied menu, great specials for students, and their customer
service was outstanding. I had a bit of a difficult
order and they were very patient and eager to help me with whatever
questions I had. Also, they
warned me they were in the middle of a rush
and apologized if my order took longer than an
hour, but assured me my food would be warm and fresh at the
time of delivery. My order not only came within 45 minutes,
but also with a coupon for $5
off my next meal. Pizza Pit's service was far above all others.

 |
To me, Pizza Pit is the epitome
of the college lifestyle - reasonably priced and good to the last
bite. Also, for people who don’t wake up until
the last possible minute, the pizza tastes pretty good cold, so you can
just grab and run. Unluckily for Pizza Pit, the one time I was
judging their “service,” they managed to deliver
me a pizza that suffered from a rough delivery, mainly meaning
some of the pieces had flipped over and fused together. Tsk, tsk, Pizza Pit. -

 |
One thing that startled me about
the Pizza Pit was the fact that it actually has a really
extensive menu. According
to the online version, you can order everything from popcorn
shrimp to bacon onion cheeseburger pizza. A plain old cheese
pizza was all I tried, and it turned out to be pretty sub-par.
It was
really
salty and left me unimpressed,
especially for how long it took to deliver and the size compared
to the price. - Lindsay |
 |
Overall,
a definite must for all you late nighters! They delivered very
quickly for being late in the evening. Their "pit stix" are
amazing! - Dennette |
Gumby's
Pizza (3.2)
 |
Overall,
a great standby, but I found them to be a little slower even
though I live a couple blocks from their business. As always,
their Pokey Sticks are great, even cold! Plus, their pizza is
cheap which makes up for the quality of pizza :) -
Dennette |
 |
I’m fond of Gumby’s merely
for the fact that I know I can get a sinfully cheap large
pizza for the price of a medium and it will arrive fast.
It’s not the best tasting pizza in the world, and
it’s pretty inconsistent – sometimes it tastes
really garlicky, sometimes not at all – but it’s
more than acceptable for a college student on a budget. -
Lindsay |
 |
Their breadsticks or “Pokeystix”are
your best bet when ordering from Gumby’s! Their pizza
was ok, but nothing special. Buying Pokeystix at least
once is a must for any college student! They are amazing.
Don’t forget to ask for the ranch dressing! Gumby’s
has great coupons online too. They have a lot of “dorm
room”specials for students that are living in the
residence halls! - Tyler |
 |
I
had a bad experience with Gumby’s pizza about three years
ago and never ordered it again This time, I ate it, didn’t like it, and then
found out it had the added bonus of making me sick. Gumby’s
pizza may be the lowest-priced pizza on this list, but in my
opinion, it’s not worth it. If you order from Gumby’s, might I suggest
the Pokey Stix? They’re cheap and taste pretty good. -

Gumby's
was the one I found to be most disappointing of them all. I didn't
find their menu selection to be very appealing, they didn't have
too many different options. Also, their customer service was
horrible. While placing my order on the phone I couldn't help
but feel rushed and as though I was a bother to the employee.
Time of delivery was standard; however, the delivery man not
only originally gave me the wrong order but also shorted my change
by 4 dollars. I guess you get what you pay for. - Ashley |
Paul
Revere's Pizza (3.5)
 |
Paul
Revere's menu selections and prices
are very good, especially for college students who lack the money
for fine wine and dining. They offer a good amount of food for
the prices listed, and their food is tasteful, with many cheap
add-on options. The only problem was their delivery man ran over 45 minutes late. - Ashley |
 |
Out
of all five pizza places, Paul Revere’s was definitely
the priciest of the lot of them, but their pizza
was really, really tasty! I got their thin crust pizza, which
many pizza places don’t offer, so that was definitely a
plus for them. The pizza arrived quickly and the service was
very friendly. Also, if you have the buck, splurge and get the
soft garlic breadsticks. Just like the pizza, they’re absolutely
delicious. - Ju Li |
 |
Overall,
having never had a Paul Revere's pizza, I was surprised that
I had been passing them up! There isn't a large selection on
the menu, but the taste is amazing! - Dennette |
 |
With just the basics, their
menu selection wasn’t as extensive as others; however, they did have a wide range
of pizza crusts which I liked! Out of the 5 pizza places,
this was the most expensive there was. Pizza was okay,
but I had to drip some of the grease off! I’d recommend
using coupons when coming to this place! -
Tyler |
 |
Paul
Revere’s was the last place I ordered from, and I have
to say it was one of the best. Their
pizza was light and tasty, not at all overly greasy.
This was another pizza place with a really extensive menu – not
just pizza, but pasta, open-faced sandwiches, and barbeque ribs
at your disposal. - Lindsay |
