So you don't think this is for you? Have a few objections? Lets look at a few things that might be holding you back...
Objection! “I don’t know what to cook.”
Overruled. Keep it simple. Students will enjoy almost any meal that’s provided for them. If you’re really desperate, order pizza and serve it on Hawkeye paper plates. Or check out these dinner ideas.
Objection! “My house isn’t big enough.”
Overruled. Consider hosting 6 students, or sign up to co-host a dinner at someone else’s home and share the cost.
Objection! “I won’t know what to talk about.”
Overruled. As an alumnus of Iowa, you have all kinds of stories and traditions to share that students will love to hear. You can ask questions about their current student experience as well. If you want, you can begin the night with one of these mixers (coming soon).
Objection! “I’m too busy.”
Overruled. The dinner you host will only last 1-2 hours on a Sunday night, so the commitment is minimal. Your preparation time and email communication are well worth the effort for this opportunity.
