S.T.A.T.venger Hunt 2003

Way To Go Vince!
Iowa freshman, Vince Brown was the winner of the annual S.T.A.T.venger hunt. Vince won a full season ticket package for wrestling, football and men’s and women’s basketball donated by the UI Athletic Department.

Here are the clues and answers for the 2003 hunt:

Clue #1
To find the STAT medallion you will need to head southwest of me. But take your umbrella in case there are April showers.

The STAT medallion is hidden at Slater Hall, which is, located southwest of Mayflower residence hall….April showers bring Mayflower(s).

Clue #2
Look east of a “globule” which is typically hollow, light and hemispherical to find the STAT medallion.

The STAT medallion (Slater) is east of the Indoor Practice Field also referred to as “The Bubble”. Bubble is defined by Webster’s Dictionary as a small globule typically hollow and light; something that is hemispherical or semi cylindrical.

Clue #3
Put your hands together and give yourself a round of applause, you just may be a STAT star--head south of me to the opposite side of campus to find the medallion.

The STAT medallion is buried at Slater, which is south of Clapp Recital Hall (on the opposite side of campus)

Clue #4
Once you clear the fog from your eyes it won’t be difficult to navigate your way to the location of the STAT medallion. Head west to avoid the ice, water, and wind.

The Medallion (Slater) is located west of the Hydraulics Laboratory. The IIHR was instrumental in planning the current 9-foot navigation channel and discovering methods to disperse fog. Research areas include a wind tunnel, ice room, and a variety of water projects.

Clue #5
No need to get your head examined. If you're looking for the medallion you should head to the opposite side of the river.

The STAT Medallion (Slater) is on the west side of the river, opposite of Spence Psych Lab.

Clue #6
Built by the University in 1913, it is the oldest one on campus. The medallion is buried near the most recently built one on campus.

Currier Hall was built in 1913 by the University and was the first dormitory on campus; Slater is the newest built residence hall on campus built in 1968. NOTE: Mayflower was not built but purchased by the University in 1983.

Clue #7
I am not the location of the hidden medallion, but we have something in common. You might find our on-campus locations a nice place to catch some zzzzz’s, however it will cost you $74 a night to stay with me, find the medallion southwest of me.

The STAT medallion (Slater) is located southwest of the IMU/Iowa House. A one-night stay at the Iowa House is $74 for a standard single. The something in common, catching zzzz’s in a hotel room is similar to catching some zzzz’s in a dorm room

Clue #8
The medallion is hidden next to a building that was renamed after a 1928 law grad and one of Iowa’s football greats. Your prize waits on it's north side."

Named after Duke Slater this residence hall is the location of the medallion.
