Iowa Club Highlights
Cincinnati-Dayton Iowa Club Golf Outing
The Cincinnati-Dayton Iowa Club hosted the Fourth Annual Hawkeye Challenge Big Ten Invitational, Saturday, August 26, 2006 at Weatherwax Golf Course in Middletown, OH. The Hawkeyes hit the links and enjoyed a day of sun and fun.
San Francisco Area Iowa Club Holds Volunteer Day
The San Francisco/Bay Area Iowa Club held its first annual Volunteer Day on Saturday, March 25 at Muir Woods in
Mill Valley. If you’ve ever been to Muir Woods, then you know that it’s one of the most impressive outdoor attractions in the Bay Area. Our group met at Muir Woods at 9:45 a.m. and worked until 1 p.m. Thanks to everyone who volunteered their time. We had a good time while working for a great cause. This proves that the Hawkeye spirit is alive and well in the San Francisco area.
Houston Iowa Club Members Meet Houston Rocket Ryan Bown
The Houston Iowa Club enjoyed a group outing with the Houston Rockets as they hosted the Golden State Warriors Friday, February 24, 2006. The group was fortunate to have a meet and greet after the game with former Hawkeye and current Houston Rocket Ryan Bowen. Not all of the 22 people who attended the game and the meet and greet are in the photo but everyone really enjoyed the evening. Ryan was so nice and so giving to let us do this event; everyone who participated really enjoyed themselves. Ryan says he hopes to attend some of our football game watches in September! We would love him to join us.
San Diego Game Watch
San Diego Iowa Club
leader Joe Paulus (center) and UI graduate Anne Harrison enjoy cheering
on Coach Ferentz and the Iowa Hawkeye football team from Player’s—the
club’s game watch site. Future Hawkeye Piper Conley celebrates
the Hawks success, too!
Las Vegas Hawkeye Golf Outing
Kristy
Hingtgen had been anxiously awaiting the the Las Vegas Hawkeye
Golf Outing, she couldn't wait to meet former
Iowa Coach/Iowa GOD Hayden Fry. Well, she got her wish (pictured right)
and he was, as she put it "awesome" to talk to throughout the day.
"At the
end
of
the evening he came to
me
to
say
goodbye, thanks,
and to say: "You are so nice." Hearing that with his Texas
drawl makes me smile!"

Hawkeye Club Announced
The Washington D.C. Area Iowa Club is growing the next generation of
Hawkeyes! The Club recently unveiled a program designed especially for
future UI alumni. A series of events for all future Hawkeyes, included
a trip to the Wheaton Regional Park, a tour of the National Zoo, and
a paint your own pottery party. Plans have been made for a private,
safe, smoke free party room at the Crystal City Sports Pub during selected
upcoming football game watches. Great idea Capital Area Iowa Club!
Walk for the Animals
In May, the Capital Area Iowa Club fielded a team in the Arlington Animal
Welfare League’s Walk for the Animals for the fourth
year in a row. They are the lead fundraisers for this event and raised
more than $6,800! The Club's team money helps benefit the thousands
of homeless animals the League shelters every year. Well done Capital
Area Iowa Club!
