Our Mission

The Iowa Black Alumni Association promotes the general mission and purposes of the University of Iowa and strives to acknowledge and recognize black students and alumni for their achievements and service, while promoting their career and educational opportunites and enhancing the social and economic conditions of prospective, current, and former black students of the University of Iowa.

Iowa Black Alumni Association Scholarship

The IBAA is proud to announce that a $1,000 scholarship was recently awarded to a current UI African-American student during our 50th Anniversary Celebration on April 20, 2013.

Iowa Black Alumni Association 50th Anniversary

Nearly 100 alumni and friends came back to Iowa City to celebrate 50 years of friendship, camaraderie, and educational opportunities in April 2013.

Activities included a student panel discussion about issues concerning the success of students at the University of Iowa, game night, workshops on networking and new technology, alumni giving and writing a book proposal, a campus tour, banquet and dance, and brunch.

During the reunion weekend, Lois and George Eichacker shared Dr. Jewel Limar Prestage's article highlighting profiles of professionalism, leadership, and service with attendees. Click here to read more.
